Why did you create Filthy Fun Events LLC?
After competing in mud runs throughout the east coast for a few years the founder of Filthy Fun Events LLC pondered the idea of hosting his own mud runs. His wife---who after running just one mud run herself---quickly realized why the unique events are becoming so popular and supported this decision. The husband and wife tandem created Filthy Fun Events LLC with the ability to coordinate any event, but with its primary focus on mud runs. The goal of the Filthy Fun Mud Run is to offer an event with challenging obstacles, creative course designs, and utmost organization; which are areas that the Filthy Fun owners found lackluster at other events. The Mid-Atlantic region offers endless miles of natural terrain suitable for mud runs making it an adventure seekers paradise. The Filthy Fun Mud Run is a premier off-road obstacle run that sees no boundaries, but does plan on getting their hands a little dirty!
Is there an age requirement to participate in the Filthy Fun Mud Run?
The 5k and 10k courses are for males & females age 14 & up.
To make sure no one misses out on the fun, we added the Little N’ Filthy Fun Run with age specific courses for children ages 4-13 years old.
Is Filthy Fun Mud Run associated with a non-profit organization?
Absolutely! Each Filthy Fun Mud Run event proudly benefits a non-profit organization. Please see the event page for details on which group it partners with.

Nope, registration will end prior to the event date.

How much does it cost to do the Filthy Fun Mud Run?
It depends on when you sign up. The earlier you sign up the cheaper it is for you. Check out the fee schedule for each event on the event’s homepage.
What do I get with my registration fee?
Each participant will receive a Filthy Fun Mud Run technical tee (no cotton here), an awesome marked course, race bib, admission to the post-race festival, the pride and pain of completing a Filthy Fun Mud Run, a goodie back from our sponsors and good times with Filthy friends.
Can I register by phone or mail?
Online is the only way!
Are there any discounts on registration?
Yes, the earlier you sign up the bigger the discount will be. You can also "like" us on Facebook for random promo codes and updates! As we get closer to the event date the registration fees increase. We do offer incentives for team registrations, otherwise, everyone is created equal!
Can I form a team? Must we stay together?
Yes, you can form a team during Registration. We actually offer race day incentives for teams of 12 or more. You can run at your own paces, but it's always more fun if you finish together!
Can I get a refund on my registration fee?
Unfortunately we cannot offer any refunds. If you find someone who is not already registered for that event and wants to take your place we can transfer your registration for a $10 fee. Transfers must be done at least 30 days prior to the registrion cut-off for that event, no exceptions.
Can I transfer my registration to a friend?
Life throws you missiles sometimes! If you signed up for a Filthy Fun Mud Run and can no longer attend it we will let you transfer your registration fee. We realize it will be painful enough for you to miss out on the Fun! This request can be made via the "Contact Us" page and there will be a $10 fee to do this. The only person who may request a transfer is the person named on the original registration and it must be transferred to someone who has not signed up for that event. The deadline to transfer your registration is 30 days before the registration cut-off for that specific event, no exceptions.
What is the participant packet, when do I get it?
The participant packet includes your race bib, beer ticket (age appropriate), Filthy Fun tech shirt, goodies from sponsors and other important information. The packet must be picked up the day of the event during the registration process. You will need photo ID for this, and should arrive at least one hour prior to your start time!
Is there somewhere I can leave my bags?
Yes, we recommend leaving valuables at home and other items in your car. We will provide a key drop/gear check for participant use depending on the parking details for each event.
Can I wear a costume?
Absolutely, we love when people look ridiculous!
What shouldn’t I wear?
Your new flip flops, a white dress, or your mink fur coat. You can wear whatever you want, but we recommend leaving jewelry, glasses and anything else you care about at home! Filthy Fun Mud Run takes no responsibility for your belongings! We do recommend wearing running shoes and lightweight gloves to help with obstacles!
My buddy is running late, can I get his packet?
No, for legal/insurance reasons we cannot allow this. However, we will try our best to accommodate them with a later start time.
Must I sign a waiver in order to participate?
Yes, every participant over 18 will sign a waiver during online registration. Participants under 18 require a parent/guardian signature.
Will there be a photographer on site?
Absolutely, we wouldn’t want you to miss these face shots! Photos will be available for purchase shortly after the event!
I’m Filthy, is there a shower area?
Indeed, and at most events a classic fire hose will do the job!
What awards can I (try to) win?
Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male finishers and top 3 overall female finishers. Some events may offer additional awards. To qualify for awards you must complete the course by 11:30 AM! The awards ceremony will be at approximately 12:00 PM for each event!
My friends and family want to come, is there a fee?
That’s great!! In most cases there is not a fee. Please check the event page for any parking/spectator fees specific for each event.
Is there any on-site parking?
Hopefully! There will almost always be on-site parking, in the event that a facility does not have adequate parking Filthy Fun Mud Run will provide a shuttle to and from a nearby lot. Be sure to check out the parking info for the event you are attending. Parking fees may apply and carpooling is strongly recommended.
Are pets allowed?
No…while we do love pets they must stay home!
Are there any obstacles that spectators can view?
Filthy Fun Mud Run always tries to create spectator viewing areas for some Filthy views, however, this is not always possible and spectators may not enter the course at any time.
What is the post-race festival?
The post-race festival is held in the common start/finish area. This is where you can enjoy your free beer ( if you are 21 or older), grab some awesome food, rock out to live music, visit our sponsors in "vendor valley", and buy Filthy Fun Mud Run apparel. We will also hold the awards ceremony on the music state at approximately 12:00 PM.
Course Info
Is there more than one course, how long are they?
Filthy Fun Mud Runs are typically 5k events with the Little N’ Filthy Fun Runs. Some events will also feature a 10k Filthy Fun Mud Run. The 5k courses are just over 3 miles long and the 10k courses are approximately 6.12 miles of Filthy Fun! The Little N’ Filthy Fun Run for 4-6 year olds is about 100 yards long, and the 7-13 year olds course is nearly 1 mile from start to finish.
Is there a time limit to finish the course?
No, finish at your own pace…but the obstacles won’t get any easier!
What if I can’t complete an obstacle?
Please notify a nearby course official. This will disqualify you from winning any awards, but you can still finish the course.
I can’t swim, can I still participate?
Yes, there is no need to swim during the event. However, there are water crossings and obstacles….so at least work on your doggie paddle!
Are there water stations throughout the courses?
Of course, we don't expect you to eat mud without a chaser... We will have several hydration stations throughout the course to keep you fresh.
What if I get injured?
No worries!! We have trained EMS personnel on site who will patch you up. Just make sure a course official knows (we won’t question your toughness).
